The study retrospectively compared capillaroscopic and dermoscopic findings in patients with basal cell carcinoma who visited the Department of Dermatology at Gunma University between April 1, 2021 and December 1, 2025.

While no significant difference was observed in pigmented findings such as blue-gray globules, arborizing vessels, one of the characteristic vascular findings of basal cell carcinoma, were detected in 47.7% of lesions by dermoscopy and 93.8% by capillaroscopy, representing a significantly higher detection rate with capillaroscopy (p<0.01).

In addition, vascular findings were observed in all tumors measuring less than 3 mm in diameter.
