What is Depth of Field?

Depth of field refers to the range in which the image remains in focus. It is influenced by aperture and focal length. The LM-3D provides a deep depth of field, allowing you to capture sharp images from the front to the back of the teeth ― with no complex settings.

For example, in "N" Mode, the area that appears in focus through the viewfinder (at full aperture) is located approximately 5 cm in front of the strobe. At that position, the depth of field extends from about 1 cm in front to 1 cm behind the focal point. When the shutter is released with the aperture stopped down, the actual image will have an even wider range in focus ― as shown in the picture.

Stable, Blur-Free Shots ― Even When You or the Patient Moves*

In "Intraoral mode," the LM-3D is free from motion blur and camera shake. This allows clear intraoral images to be captured even when the patient, the photographer, or both are moving ― ideal for real-world clinical settings.

*Applies to Intraoral Mode (U Mode).

Ring Strobe with Adjustable Light Intensity

The LM-3D comes equipped with a ring strobe that features an adjustable power ratio, allowing you to fine-tune light intensity with ease. This enables high-quality imaging even when strong, consistent lighting is required ― perfect for professional dental photography.

Capture Face-Form Shots Without Needing Extra Space

Switching to "Face-form Mode" is as simple as turning the adjustment ring.
You can take clear facial images from a distance of just 30 cm ― no need for extra room, even in confined spaces. The included ring strobe, with adjustable light output, ensures shadow-free illumination without the need for additional lighting equipment.

Ideal for Standard Protocols with Multiple Intraoral Views

In "U" (Ultra Macro) Mode, the LM-3D is ideal for standardized dental photography protocols that require multiple intraoral views ― such as frontal, lateral, and occlusal images.

The magnification in U Mode is approximately 1/1.2 to 1/1.5×, providing highly detailed shots suitable for diagnostic, documentation, and aesthetic purposes.

The LM-3D was showcased at the 62nd Spring Meeting of the Japanese Society of Periodontology, held on May 24-25, 2019, where it received strong interest from dental professionals.
